The Coordinating Committee For Automotive Repair (CCAR®) "S/P2" online training in Safety and Pollution Prevention, which is provided free of charge to automotive training programs, added 19 new schools in December 2005.
The new schools include El Capitan High School, Lakeside, California; National Institute of Technology, Long Beach, California, High Plains Technical Center, Woodward, Oklahoma; Roswell Job Corps Center, Roswell, New Mexico, and St. Phillips College, San Antonio, Texas
There are currently 2,372 schools across the U.S. enrolled in S/P2, representing a student population of more than 196,000. S/P2 was developed by CCAR in accord with U.S. EPA and OSHA standards, which require shop personnel and students to be trained at least annually on safety and environmental regulations.
For businesses, S/P2 is available for a $299 annual subscription per facility. The S/P2 courseware tracks technician/student progress through the training, grades tests and is regularly updated as changes occur in federal and state laws.
"We applaud those schools that have already been using S/P2 and welcome the new additions," said Robert G. Stewart, CCAR president. "Providing students with the knowledge of how to be EPA and OSHA compliant before they enter into the workforce is how CCAR is changing the automotive repair industry for the better."
